To Blog or Not To Blog

A friend asked why I have not written anything on my blog for a while. I realized that I mainly write when I am depressed or in depression, and it is not something people want to read about as there are so many depressive stories or news these days. So I decided that I will only blog when I have something to write about.

Since I am on it now, here's an update of what has been happening lately to me and my family. July has been a hectic month. Derrick went for his 2nd TURP surgery on the 7th to have a 2nd tumour removed. This time round, he was given full anesthesia and a blast of mitomycin. Of course, that did not get him down. After he was discharged (the day after the surgery), he took a bus home (because the roads were so jammed up leading to the July 9th rally in KL with so many roadblocks. So to save me the trouble of going through the jam along Jalan Universiti leading to the Federal Highway, he hopped onto a bus and was home shortly after we all had our dinner.

Then it was planning time for Johan's birthday party which was postponed from the 9th to the 16th in view of the possible outcome of the rally. All week into the party, we went shopping for clothes (Sogo sale is really worthwhile) and for party stuff at Chow Kit area and Petaling Street. The boys wanted twirling pens, angry birds merchandise, water balloons, lasers. The theme of the party was Angry Birds and the main event was a water balloon fight in the playground followed by water hosing time. Two of Johan's friends (Jit Kin and Ian) slept over.

Both my sisters Helen and Margaret were here to help with the party and cleaning up. I cooked spaghetti, made coleslaw and potato salad while Derrick fried some nuggets and hashbrowns for lunch. Dinner was roast chicken with leftover coleslaw and potato salad.

Rowenna, my dad's Philipino maid, arrived in Malaysia on July 21, had her medical done the next day. We picked her up from the agency on Saturday July 23 and brought her to Muar. Father was relieved that finally he was no longer to be living alone, doing everything himself. 3 months wait after Mila went off in March 24 was a long wait. Rowenna settled down quickly, is now driving Father around and doing all the housework.

While in Muar, we set up the HP Mini with Digi Broadband Explore Day Plan at RM33 and I got Father his gmail and with that, set up his facebook page so that his grandchildren can interact with him regularly. It is really nice to see his grandchildren write to him with lots of pictures.

In the meantime, when all these are happening, I managed to do some gardening as stress relieve, got a number of bougainvillea to colour up the garden and balcony.

Finally, I managed to spend sometime updating photos onto my facebook page.

All in all, July was a nice month. The hot and hazy season may well be over with heavy rain every few days to green the earth and cool the air.
